There are three, accurately detailed models in this set: Dickinsonia costata @ 80 mm long, Spriggina floundersi @ 75 mm long and Kimberella quadrata @ 80 mm long – that make for an ideal educational tool. These models are all used in display at the Royal Ontario Museum in Canada as accurate reconstructions of these Ediacaran organisms. All models have been created by paleoartist Bruce Currie using state of the art 3D printing technology in consultation with leading paleontologists from around the world.

After initial printing each model undergoes a secondary process that enhances surface quality, accentuates colouration and provides protection against UV damage and handling.

This Ediacaran biota set represents a collection of organisms that were among the earliest known animals to appear on Earth - during the Ediacaran period (635 mya - 543 mya). The affinities of all Ediacaran organisms are presently unknown and are the subject of much debate within the paleontological community.
