Dokudami (Houttuynia cordata) is ranked among the top ten herbs in Japan. Typically used when it is freshly picked or dried. As a fresh herb, it is often eaten, applied to the skin, or placed in a bath. When dried, it is used in tea for its healing powers. Studies have concluded that Dokudami can act as an anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory agent— with antimicrobial benefits to combat acne.
